Short Tsubasa Chronicles anime and manga review

To put it short… The story is about Syaoran and his adventures traveling through dimensions in order to collect feathers for his love interest Sakura. He is accompanied by grumpy mentor ninja Kurogane, the mysterious and happy go lucky wizard Fai D. Flowright and strange creature called Mokona. Won’t really go too much into that as that would spoil it. There are plot twists later on that could confuse.

Pros

Tons of really nice looking artwork

Plot does deepen as the story progresses

Cons

Not for people with bad memory

Has potential room for a sequel

To Buy?

If your looking for a series that isn’t straight forward and soemthing more on the pretty side of artwork this is great. If you have bad memory or read manga chapter a month you may find this is very confusing.

Anime version

There are two seasons of the anime adaptation and a movie.

Pros

Much more child friendly

Some extra explanation

Really nice music and animation

Cons

Too many this is what happened just before

Dubbed voices are far too quiet

Differs form the manga story a lot in 2nd season

It is open ended

To Buy?

Hard to say. The series is nice but it’s nowhere near as good as the manga. If your a fan of the manga your better getting the OVAs which are direct adaptations of the manga although incomplete. Personally I want to see the series remade to be more direct adaptation of the manga.

Macross Frontier Figure Review

Ranka Lee Cinderella Ver

A model of Ranka in her most well known Yellow and Orange idol dress is perfect for any Macross F and Ranka Lee fan. She comes with two alternate arms (2 left and 2 right arms in total) and alternate face. The best part is you can’t tell this is the case. Looking at a picture of her and even when displayed the joints are out of sight. It’s great this includes her well known “kira” pose. She really is a nice looking model. There are only two downsides to her. Packaging is on the extreme side. Plastic wrapping shoved into every possible part. It also difficult to change her pose because the joints are hidden.

Ranka Lee Raspberry Pink Ver

This is Ranka in her dress from the first movie artwork. It’s a cute dress and while the detail and painting could be better she still looks nice and isn’t as expensive as the above model. She also comes with Ai-kun which she can hug. I do find she leans a lot to the side but that is the design rather then an issue though. She is a figure that comes as is. No alternate stuff with her other then Ai-kun. That said it is a cute pose and I like the dress even though Ranka never wears it during a concert. Not much else I can say about this one.

Maccross F Choco

These cute mini figures can come separately or you can get a whole set of them. Ranka is wearing her Cinderella dress, Sheryl in her Infinity dress, Klan in her SMS uniform and Alto in school uniform. They aren’t very tall but they are still quite detailed for the size they are. For the downsides. Setting them up can be a bit of a pain. Sheryl is literally painful to set because her dress so spiky. The other downside is while there are a set of 8 4 of them are just alternate versions of the other 4. In other words 2 models of each character. They are a lot of fun to mess around with. I took pictures of them with 3DS Miis and other Nintendo characters.
