Art Book Collection Part 1

These books mostly contain artwork. Pictures aren’t great but hopefully give some idea on the quality of the artbooks as well as content.

Ranka Lee Visual Collection

Most pages consists of promotional artwork. Pretty decent sized artwork although couple of smaller ones in the book as well. Is a section of more fan service type stuff. Thankfully those pages are golden coloured so can just skip them over. The artwork is pretty and had some fan art at back. I’m guessing it’s fan art. It has a decent variety of artwork although some outfits shown off more then others. While most is just of Ranka are some group shots and her with Alto or Brera.

As I want to cosplay and doing games design a bit disappointed on the concept art section. It didn’t show all her outfits from series and didn’t go into detail on some of her outfits as much as others. However the art is a decent size so ones included you can easily see detail. The one thing that surprised me is there was no concept art for her famed Cinderella Dress and only a few pictures with her wearing that outfit.

The book includes interview as well as preview of 2nd movie. It also has some black and white pages mostly consisting of interview and screenshots from series and Music Clip. A bit disappointment the 2nd movie preview didn’t contain many Ranka screenshots.

Tsubusa Chronicles Artbook 1+2

Photobucket

The artbooks consist of artwork from the manga as well as some artwork used for the movie. The 2nd artbook in particular contains spoiler art for those not far into manga or for those following anime series it won’t make much sense. The books have large variety in costumes and most artwork fills entire page/s.

If your a cosplayer or into costume design the artbooks provide plenty of inspiration even though you don’t get to see all sides to the outfit. At end of each artbook is mini manga. To be warned the artbook contains a lot of different characters. So if you were expecting main couple of the series to appear a lot might be a bit disappointment or happy to know it’s not jsut focusing on them. Plenty of group shots or ones of other characters.

Worlds of Final Fantasy – Dawn

Photobucket

Artbook featuring artwork from Final Fantasy I to IV. Really nicely presented. Showing separate monsters as well as huge page filling artwork and one long pull out one. As fan of artwork nice to see a book containing it.It can be very difficult to find art for earlier Final Fantasy games. Specially decent sized ones.

Lack of labeling is my only complaint with the book. While some designs are used for multiple games in the series would have been nice to know which one specifically. Only a minor complaint. Artwork itself is really nice and unique. It’s unfortunate of the games don’t look much like the art.

Galaxy Angels 2

Photobucket

For those who don’t know Galaxy Angels is a game series which has manga and anime spin offs. The anime takes a comic route meanwhile the manga stays more true to the game series. If ypour interested in cosplay lots of potential outfits in this book. It contains artwork of characters from1st lot of Galaxy Angels as well as 2nd lot. Has chibis as well.

Contains singular character art, group ones and full page art as well. It’s a big book. While the uniforms are featured heavily some other outfits and fun art included as well. It’s a really nice art book and has lots of pretty art of decent size. Tons of art with characters having wings. Are some fan service pictures well quite a few really as the game is part dating sim. The art has been put into different categories which is needed for such a big book.

Short Tsubasa Chronicles anime and manga review

To put it short… The story is about Syaoran and his adventures traveling through dimensions in order to collect feathers for his love interest Sakura. He is accompanied by grumpy mentor ninja Kurogane, the mysterious and happy go lucky wizard Fai D. Flowright and strange creature called Mokona. Won’t really go too much into that as that would spoil it. There are plot twists later on that could confuse.

Pros

Tons of really nice looking artwork

Plot does deepen as the story progresses

Cons

Not for people with bad memory

Has potential room for a sequel

To Buy?

If your looking for a series that isn’t straight forward and soemthing more on the pretty side of artwork this is great. If you have bad memory or read manga chapter a month you may find this is very confusing.

Anime version

There are two seasons of the anime adaptation and a movie.

Pros

Much more child friendly

Some extra explanation

Really nice music and animation

Cons

Too many this is what happened just before

Dubbed voices are far too quiet

Differs form the manga story a lot in 2nd season

It is open ended

To Buy?

Hard to say. The series is nice but it’s nowhere near as good as the manga. If your a fan of the manga your better getting the OVAs which are direct adaptations of the manga although incomplete. Personally I want to see the series remade to be more direct adaptation of the manga.
